| Special researches
are undertaken upon requests by LEARN members and partners
to meet their respective information needs, including profiles
on particular companies or industries. Documentation (news
clippings, books, downloads from the Internet, and other materials)
is regularly done to update the LEARN data bank on various
labor, women, economic, political, national and global issues.
Research and documentation are also carried out to further
enhance the contents and methodologies of the TU, political
and gender education programs. LEARN prepares as well a quarterly
internal research – a summary of the latest number of
trade unions (private and public), their membership, CBAs
and CNAs; and some key economic indicators like employment,
unemployment, underemployment, inflation, poverty, GNP, GDP,
purchasing power of the peso, etc.
LEARN started in 2002 a separate Research Department
assigned to study specific labor issues, particularly on wage
and employment trends in the Philippines. It aims to strengthen
the institution’s advocacy program through monitoring
and developing a database on employment, wages and labor-related
statistics. The information and analysis generated here are
shared with partner trade unions, labor researchers and policymakers. |
